busy, busy, busy

Life is busy these days, so I haven't been able to drop in here for a while. One of the many things coming up is the Market Harborough vintage fair on Saturday 11th February - drop by and say hello!

lost property finds - new year finds

Happy New Year everyone! I've been off work for a few weeks, and have been enjoying doing nothing. That's not true, we have spent the last week getting organised - sorting out the piles of junk that fill the house, and moving furniture around. And it feels very, very good.

Of course I then had to fill the empty spaces with some new things. I spent a couple of days out exploring some new charity shops, which I will certainly be going back to.

This lady was my most exciting find. I spotted her hiding behind a rail of clothes as I was paying for something else, and snapped her up straight away. Judging by the clothes and hairstyle, I'm guessing she is from the 1930s. Isn't she lovely?

I also found these sweet cottage garden embroideries, with quotes by Patience Strong. There are a couple of similar embroideries on eBay, so I think they are from a kit.

I was strangely excited to find this green office tray for 20p. I've been wanting some vintage office supplies for a while (I've no idea why), but haven't had much luck until now. The mint green colour is perfect, and goes well with the jug.

And finally, a couple of old suitcases, which will make great display items at my next vintage fair.

What have you found recently?

happy christmas - and introducing the etsy shop

Happy Christmas everyone! December has been busy, and I've not had a chance to stop in here. I'm taking a break and will be raring to go in the new year!

I've been working hard on my new etsy shop - Lost Property Vintage - and have even enjoyed a few sales. I can't wait to make it even bigger and better next year.

See you all in 2012!

living vintage - bentwood chairs

One day I'll find a set of bentwood chairs for a bargain price. I love their classic, simple style, which seems to fit with any interior. My only worry is how comfy they may be.

But these fun penny round cushions from Australian company Castle would soften them - and cheer up any room.

my first vintage fair

That was a lot of fun! The vintage fair on Sunday was a success and I learnt a lot. I can't wait to do more next year.

Here's my stall, prior to a few tweaks. I set it all up on the dining table the day before, but needless to say it looked completely different on the day! The biggest item I sold was the globe, hiding under the table in the photo. S and I spent half an hour one evening comparing the names of the countries against the history books, and dated it to the 1930s/1940s.

Now I just have to unpack it all...

lost property finds - off to the fair

It's been a bit quie round here recently, and that's because I'm buried undernearth piles of boxes, preparing for my first vintage fair!

It's today (Sunday, 27th November) at Victoria Hall in Oundle, Northamptonshire. Drop by and say hello if you are in the area!

As well as some finds previously talked about here, I'll be bringing lots of new things. Including the Oxo tin above, and the accurately named 'little forks' below.

And if that wasn't enough, lost property vintage is now on etsy! More on that soon, but please have a look around.

Wish me luck!
